Kylo Ren: The Angsty Sith Lord

For me, it's really hard to take away good things from the last trilogy of the Star Wars saga. The narrative was all over the place, the characters were underdeveloped, and everything just seemed out of conjunction. The most interesting thing about the saga, at least in my opinion, is the character dynamic of Kylo Ren.

Kylo Ren is not your traditional antagonist. While most are fearless, battle-hardened warlords, Kylo Ren embodies a character who is not fully committed to his cause. I feel like "angsty"is the perfect word to describe how Kylo Ren feels as an enemy of the light side because he always seems so insecure in who he is and the decisions he makes.

Angsty leaders are a common theme in literary works, yet they are not very commonly found in works of film. I find it very clever that the writers of the new films decided to develop some depth inside the antagonistic body of the work, and to create a "bad guy" who was more complex than those previously developed.

Do you guys like Kylo Ren as a character? Do you think his angst fits the direction of the narrative? Let me know what you think!
