Anakin Skywalker: The Fallen Angel
Anakin Skywalker is one of the most important characters in the Star Wars films for a plethora of reasons. He started his journey as a young boy who loved to pod race, and ended it as the most powerful Sith lord the galaxy had ever seen. Needless to say, Anakin's character arc and development is one of the most crucial pieces of the Star Wars films as a whole because his actions influenced an entire string of events that would affect the lives of many important characters.
Anakin's ascent in the ways of the light and descent into the depths of the dark is what defines his arc as a strong character. I would like to draw a connection between Anakin and Lucifer, the fallen angel from God's kingdom, because they share so many similarities. Just like Anakin, Lucifer was bred in the ways of the light side. In the bible, it is stated that Lucifer was one of God's favorite angels, and that he was to do great things for God's kingdom. In the Star Wars films, similar things were said for Anakin. Many said that he would bring a balance to the force, and that he would become the most powerful jedi that ever lived. Both Anakin and Lucifer would be seduced by dark forces and rise to power in different ways than had been predicted.
It is important to understand how Anakin is the polar opposite of his son, Luke. While Anakin dove deep into the depths of the dark side, Luke ascended to the highest form of the light. Lucas creates this contrast between these two characters in order to demonstrate how ultimate power can be achieved on either side of the force, but that light ultimately prevails. Unlike Lucifer, Anakin redeems himself at the end of Episode VI. The prophecy was true, and he finally brought balance to the force.
Do you guys see the connection between Anakin and Lucifer? Don't? Let me know!
