Padme Amadala: The Sacrifice of the Matriarch

Princess Amadala, more formally known as Padme Amadala, is a character in the prequel films. As Anakin's lover, Padme has to make many sacrifices in order to sustain this relationship. In fact, the biggest sacrifice that Padme had to make was the sacrifice of her own life to save her children, Luke and Leia.

There is much that can be said about instances of motherly sacrifice in other instances, through mediums like literature. The symbol of motherhood in literature is very similar to the one displayed in the prequel films through Padme. Literarily, biologically, and traditionally, the job of the mother has been to take care of the father and to protect the children, no matter the cost. In nature, for example, we see mother bears tending to their cubs, making sure they don't provoke any other animals or get caught in a strong river current. In Padme's situation, she adhered strongly to the traditional role as a mother by protecting her children to the very end.

Do you guys think that Padme is a good mother? Is there any way that Padme could have prevented her untimely death? Let me know what you guys think.
